Who provides and pays for this service?
This service is provided and funded by GlaxoSmithKline Travel Health.
What is the SMS reminder service for?
To help you complete your full vaccination course.
Which vaccines can I register for?
This service enables you to register for the following commonly used vaccines: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis A and B, and cervical cancer (HPV).
What details do I need to allow me to register?
You will need the name and the first part of the postcode of your doctor’s surgery, your mobile phone number, the date of your first vaccination, and the type of vaccine received. You may also choose to provide your e-mail address.
If my surgery name or practice is not listed, does this mean I can’t register for the reminder service?
No. You simply need to use the 'Add new surgery' link to input your surgery or practice name, postcode and phone number.
What can I expect after registration?
A welcome text message will be sent to you on registration, and also an e-mail if you have chosen this option. This will be followed by a reminder text (and e-mail) 7 days before your next vaccination is scheduled.
Can I enter a vaccination date in the future?
Yes, a vaccination date can be set in the future.
What happens if I set a vaccination date in the past, i.e. several months ago?
You will still receive a welcome message, but any vaccination reminders scheduled to occur within 1 or 2 months of the initial vaccination will not be sent to you. You will receive your first vaccine reminder at 6 or 12 months, depending on the type of vaccine.
If I don't complete my full vaccination course, what length of protection will I have?
This will depend on the vaccine for which you registered. For more information, speak to your travel health adviser.
If I have signed up for several vaccine reminders, how will I know which vaccine appointment is due?
Each reminder will indicate which type of vaccine it is for, and the date the course was started.
What happens if I don't get my reminder message?
If you don't receive a text reminder when you're expecting it, contact the GSK Customer Contact Centre on 0808 100 997 or submit your query via e-mail on customercontactuk@gsk.com.
What happens if my phone is switched off?
If your phone is switched off, the message will expire after 7 days, or less, depending on your network provider. Contact your mobile network to find out how long messages are held before they expire. Expired messages will not be re-sent.
Will I receive a text message when I'm abroad?
Yes, but you may have to pay to receive the message when abroad. Contact your mobile network provider for more information. It will depend on the deal you have with your network provider with regard to receiving text messages when abroad.
Who should I contact if I have a problem?
Contact the GSK Customer Contact Centre on 0808 100 9997 or submit your query via e-mail on customercontactuk@gsk.com.
What should I do if my mobile number changes?
Visit the edit details page on www.vaccinesreminder.co.uk and update your details to ensure that you receive reminders for your full course of vaccinations. Entering your email address when you register will ensure that you also get a back-up email reminder.
